Hosted by CBC Television’s Dwight Drummond and Anne-Marie Mediwake, the evening features presentations and top entertainment toasting Jamaica and honouring great Canadian-Jamaican achievements. The spectacular, four-part evening is as follows:
The ’62 Reception: A media-graphic black and white snapshot peek into the euphoria of 1962 when Jamaica raised the black, gold and green.
Dinner in Hope Gardens: All that glitters is golden in the GALA’s elegant dining room. Feast on fine Jamaican cuisine in a fresh, fragrant and scenic dining experience inspired by Jamaica’s iconic Hope Gardens – a creative collaboration of guest designers of The Jamaica Horticultural Society. Performances during dinner include Jessica Yap, Marc Trinidad and Mutabaruka.
Jamaica Jubilee: Lights, camera, action! A jaw-dropping cast of Jamaican and Canadian artists and personalities will be part of a multi-media showcase of visuals, music, dance, comedy and spoken word. Performances and appearances during the jubilee include performances by Jay Douglas with the All-Stars Orchestra, Derrick Harriott, Leroy Gibbons, Kreesha Turner, Steele, Nana McLean, Ammoye, Blakka Ellis, DJ Eugene Chang, Dwayne Morgan, Heritage Singers, Iyah Yant Drummers, Kafaye Rose, KasheDance, Letna Allen, Rachael-Lea Rikards, Robert Owen, Stephen Lewis & the KCC Choir, Wire, and Miss Universe Jamaica 2012 Chantal Zaky.
