Probably much to everyone’s surprise, some of you will be able to watch the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics streamed live over the Internet. According to a post on Mashable, the chairman of NBC Sports acknowledged that their less than spectacular handling of the opening ceremonies led to the change of heart.

Usain Bolt claimed his third gold medal of the London 2012 Games as Jamaica won the men's 4x100m relay at the Olympic Stadium in a world record time.

The Jamaican quartet of Bolt, Yohan Blake, Nesta Carter and Michael Frater were too good for their nearest rivals, a US team boasting the talents of Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin.
Bolt received the baton with Jamaica already in the lead and crossed the line in 36.85 seconds, smashing the previous record of 37.04 secs and Olympic record of 37.10 secs.

LONDON — Usain Bolt took a momentary break from basking in his historic Olympic sprinting double to fiercely criticize former U.S. athlete Carl Lewis.
Soon after winning gold in the 200 metres at the London Olympics for 100 and 200 titles at back-to-back games, Bolt said Thursday he had “lost all respect” for Lewis after the American was quoted as saying Jamaica’s doping controls were not as strong as other countries.

You’ll notice that St. Leo, not Humility, is his middle name.
But then, what does the world’s fastest human have to be humble about? After becoming the first man in Olympic history to successfully defend both the 100 and 200 metre sprint titles — he led a Jamaican podium sweep of the 200 Thursday night, with Yohan Blake and Warren Weir trailing in his wake — what’s he supposed to do: chalk it up to dumb luck?

That’s the conclusion the sane observer would draw after watching and re-watching Usain Bolt’s electric performance in the Olympic 100 metres on Sunday night. To wager against Bolt in Thursday’s 200 m final; to even suggest the possibility he won’t rise from the blocks, lope around the turn and find himself at least a few metres clear of his nearest competitor when he leans toward the line — well, if that’s your take, enjoy. As my esteemed colleague Mr. Perkins would urge: Don’t bet any more than you want to win.

OTTAWA -- There were thunderstorm warnings acros Ottawa on Sunday afternoon, but all the lightning came from Jamaican-Canadians as they watched their men’s sprinting heroes Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake streak to a gold and silver finish at in the 100-metre sprint at the London Olympics.
Groovy’s Roti Hut in Ottawa’s east end was electrified with pride as Bolt roasted the Olympic record, clocking in at 9.63, with teammate Blake just 0.12 seconds behind.

LONDON — Four years later, still no one can catch Usain Bolt.

He is still No. 1, still the Olympic champion at 100 meters, still the fastest man alive, still history’s greatest sprinter, still unmatched in his stirring ability to rise to the moment.

Having completed his work Sunday night in 9.63 seconds, an Olympic record, the second-fastest time ever run, Bolt put on a celebratory show for the 80,000 people in the stadium and the millions more watching from afar. His performance, after all, had happened just hours before Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of independence from Britain, a combination of events that gave rise to celebrations from Brixton to Kingston.
